I had a very athletic childhood. I played all the sports my school had to offer. After High School I went into the army.
In the army I was still very competitive and kept a very high PT score along with playing sports for my unit. I got out of the army in July of 2002.
After the army I stayed in Colorado Springs. This is where MMA started for me. I found it by accident it found me really. I got invited to compete in a fight 3 days before it would take place. Not ever being smart enough to not take a challenge. I accepted. It was a quick fight about 27 seconds and I lost. I found a great lesson that day. That in order to really fight you had to train. I also learned I loved the sport.
I put things on hold after that., for personal reasons.
In May of 2004 I was able to really pick it up again. I moved to Las Vegas and started training again I ended up making it to the pro class at Extreme Couture where I spent most of my time in the wresting and Jits classes. I trained my stand up with a Kajukembo black belt Sifu Joe Solis.
After a year of training and taking some fights that I didn’t have the experience for. I moved back to my hometown where we had a small fight team. This is where I started training very hard. I decided I wanted to do something big with this sport. I spent 2 years training with TeamEvolution.
I realized that if I wanted to make a name for myself. I had to get to a better gym. So I moved to Memphis TN. To continue training at Memphis Judo and Ju Jitsu. I trained there for about 3 years and ended up with a 12-4 ammeter record. I captured 5 belts in my ammeter career. The 185 and 205 belts for the absolute fighting challenge. Cage of Honor 185 belt. I also won Grapplers quest 200 pounds and under 2007 novice. Tri state grapplers challenge 1st place 185 and 2nd place in open class.
I tried out for the ultimate fighter season 11 in California Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddelll. I got the call back to be on the show but I had a hand injury that kept me sidelined from being on the show.
